Introduction: Badminton, Olympic sport since 1992, has kept making adepts. Badminton clubs in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (NA), were almost reaching 200.000 members in 2019. In 2019, Guermont studied a population of professional at INSEP, we are reassigning his work in a population of amateurs affiliated in NA. Our main goal is to study the incidence of the badminton player’s different injuries and their characteristics. Method: An epidemiological, multicentric, retrospective study, on adult badminton players from NA, collects player’s characteristics and their last injury since 2017 until 2020, via a questionnaire. Results: 291 participants, 153 injured, 118 lower limb injuries, 29 sprained ankles; 26 upper limb injuries, 15 shoulder tendonitis. There is a greater risk of injury if badminton is played over 4 hours a week (p = 0.002620), in the middle of a match (p = 0.000565), and of lower limb injury during a match (p= 0.027805), without link with the floor cover (p = 0.416699). The predominant type of injury is musculo-tendinous, but osteoarticular injuries are major among women (p = 0.0423867). Overuse injuries rate at 50%. Discussion: Culture of risk translates social acceptance of injury risk, challenging body commitment during match and increasing trauma injuries, oftenly in men population, regardless of competitor status. Analysing impact of sprained ankle prevention, women’s injuries and rehabilitation of the shoulder, over incidence of badminton player’s injury, should be the next step.
